This online forum features most of the basics of a good online forum with a personal profile, picture and bio, etc. However what sets Fishington apart is that this online community is really geared towards people who enjoy fishing. Whether you enjoy salt water or fresh water fishing, there are groups here for everyone. If you don't see a group that suits your taste, you can create a group very quickly.I was surprised by a feature called "My Hot Spots" that allows you to keep track of your favorite fishing holes. Once you've added a lake, river, etc to your "My Hot Spots" you can add notes about the location and you can add the Hot Spot to a group. I would think fishing clubs may use this feature to notify members about rules for fishing tournaments, or I could see using it to keep notes on lake regulations, launch fees, etc.
The "Buddies" feature always you to search for your friends that may also be on Fishington, there is also a feature to tell your friends about this online community.
I am looking forward to participating in the forums over the winter as a way to stay engaged in fishing and hopefully pick up some pointers on ice fishing and maybe sell my boat on there too. If you are on Fishington or if you sign up, please find me and we can be buddies.
Coming soon.....www.tackleboxtalk.com - fishing site, forums and more.

I'll have to check it out. I had visited Fishington when it first launched and didn't find as much value from it. Sounds like they've made some updates that are worth looking at.
I thought it could become a fun place to hangout. Let me know what you think of it.
I will also check into it. Social networking is a good way to promote your blog and meet other fishing interested folks. I am on Facebook, GetReeled, and CamoSpace now. They all have had their moments when they were good for my blog and enjoyment for me in interacting with fellow anglers. I just can't make myself commit to Twitter! Thanks for the link.
Hi Mel, I have never heard of GetReeled or CamoSpace. I have a Twitter account, but honestly don't find myself updating it that often.
I don't think I've seen that one either. Will have to take a look. Some many great social sites out there.
I haven't see that one before. I'll have to go and check it out. I am also on Camospace so if you creat an accout look me up under BenG
Hi Ben, I'll check out Camospace, thanks for the suggestion and for stopping by.
